The Art of Street Photography

Street Photography is capturing the everyday life in mundane. One must follow specific techniques in order to get good photographs. You need to be ready when it comes down to the decisive moment. Another technique is to use juxtaposition. One must capture all the surrealism in the streets as well. Image interaction is also another good technique to have when taking street photography. Lastly, you need to be able to capture symbols.

I captured this image on May 15 while in New York City. I think this is a good example of street photography because it shows the emotion of the local chess player that i encountered. I captured the image as he won the chess match. The technique i used was decisive moment. The situation is unique because you get to see the happiness on the face of the chess player as he won.

While i was doing street photography i felt very odd doing so. You have to be bold and be able to walk up to anyone to take their picture. I felt i could have done better with the images i took but overall i felt pretty accomplished with my photographs. While in New York i did run into a lot of interesting people. For that reason i enjoyed the trip because it was different than what i am used to seeing everyday. I don't like street photography as much because i feel like it's not my style.
