Street photography is extremely difficult and takes many years of practice to become a master at the art. Street photography is what is currently known as "candid" or "off-guard" photos. The amazing thing about street photography is that everyone has their own style. There are five aesthetics of street photography decisive moment, juxtaposition, surrealism, image interaction, and symbols. Personally, I'm drawn to taking pictures of people and involving the world that surrounds them to create an awesome image.
The photo I've chosen to display, is of this tall man who was standing on the sidewalk and decided to lean on this glass building. This photo reveals the aesthetic of decisive moment. One second or a couple seconds after I composed this image he could have been in a different position and this whole image would have been lost. Also this photo intrigued me because I saw his reflection in the glass and it created a perfect balance. Also the way the man is positioned it appears as if he was modeling for me without realizing he was being photographed.
Street photography was enjoyable ,but also extremely frustrating. This area of photography you aren't in control at all. You don't control the cars driving by, the pedestrian(s) walking right in front of your shot, or the classmate(s) who accidentally bumps into your arm. Also it's hard to constantly be ready for any moment which might be the perfect image. Photography takes a lot of self-control, patience, and discipline. These characteristics take time to attain.
