Catching The moment

                                                                                                                                                                     On our field trip on Thursday May 15 our objective was to take still life photos. But what is a still life photo? in todays society we would call them off guard photos. A still lifer photo captures someone in an ordinary, and mundane activity. Things like reading a book or simply sipping coffee while walking across a street. The propose of this is to capture a more natural look of the person. When taking still life photos it is key to capture a decisive moment, a split second that you may never see again. When it comes to street or still life photos there are five techniques. The decisive moment, this is when you catch a moment that you will never get back, things like that moment before a car accident or a speed car as it turns a corner. The second is Juxtaposition, and this is more difficult. Not only do you have to capture a decisive moment your photo must merge in a sense. A great example of this is to, at the right moment, catch someone walking by a poster and in the poster someone is walking in the same direction , as if they were together in the same world and moment. The third is Surrealism , and this is basically capturing weird  or awkward moments. The fourth is image interaction, and these are the funny and clever photos. One example i saw was a man walking past a poster of the incredible and at the moment the photo was taken it looked like the guy was being kicked by them. The fifth one is Symbols, and this involves arrows, lines, and signs that direct you towards a decisive moment.






                                                                             In this photo you can see a man playing an auto saxophone. the reason this is a still life is because , the man is playing and not paying the camera any attention. this is a decisive moment because at this moment you can see the pain in his voice. the music that was being played matched is face expression as he played.  






When we first started taking still life photos i felt it funny and interesting. to randomly walk up to someone and take a photo was the funniest sight to see. after a while it became easier to do. If someone didn't want there photo taken they would usually give hints like shy away from the camera or raise there hand to there face. i Found when taking still life photos you must always respect peoples wishes.
